I've a Logitech MX518 and the cursor was moving too fast..
It took some googling before I found out (again) how to make the mouse move slower..

The solution to the problem is called lomoco.

$ apt-get install lomoco
$ lomoco -8


This will make the mouse have 800 DPI resolution and makes it a bit slower compared to
the default 1200 DPI.

I also set USB mouse polling a bit more frequent:

/etc/modules

usbhid mousepoll=5


Ok, so I haven't written anything here for a "few" months. But I'm currently upgrading my server again.
But this time I'm doing a bigger physical upgrade too.

New server:
Opteron Dual-Core 2.2GHz
4GB RAM
160GB sys disk
3TB RAID-5 data space

It's running Debian Lenny and currently I've moved the webserver and database to the new server.

Server is now running Debian Etch (4.0).

When upgrading I didn't do a regular upgrade for a few reasons..

I'm happy to report that my forked amarok now loads and runs.
It have its own config files, save dirs and modules etc so you can still have amarok on the system and it should load up just fine.

Patch didn't get that big:

It's based upon current SVN for now. I need to do some minor fixing, like making the damn icon work for it (the one that should show up in kicker!). I'll post updates soon

So I got really pissed off now at amarok, or rather, the devs.. I had to make a bug report and it quickly got marked as WONTFIX. So I've decided that I will make a fork of it sometime in the future.

So the tards developing amarok want to stuff ruby and other crap down my throat. I went to the official channel on Freenode and told them the configure script is mising an option to turn off some "daap" crap I don't need or have any use for and that the configure script was broken, failing if ruby isn't available (as it's only really used during compile of "daap" anyway).

I have updated the infoplug hack some and made patches for amarok 1.3.7 and 1.4.0-svn (current trunk).
I fixed a bug which made it show current time in minutes:seconds instead of hours:minutes:seconds when the time was 60 minutes or more..
Also, Last Played have now been added.

Only 1.4.0-svn version have been tested. Second chunk for app.h is different for 1.3.7 and it applies with some fuzz, hopefully it will compile too! =)

The other day, as the only user of php-irssi (if there's anyone else using it please make yourself known!), Wez asked me to check if it compiled against latest PHP cause someone had some problems with it. It compiled fine but most scripts didn't work, well, anything that actually did something didn't work. It turned out to be a signature change related to objects in the PHP_5_1 branch that caused some problems.

It should be fixed now, so if you want to be cool like me and write your IRC scripts in PHP, get php-irssi now!

After I upgraded to baselayout 1.12-pre-something on my firewall and workstation, I had to reinstall my machines (using Gentoo). I guess I could have chroot'ed and manually reinstalled a good version of baselayout, but I choose to reinstall my workstation.

The plan was to fix my firewall right after that (I still hadn't rebooted it yet so it was running). Unfortunatley the firewall was rebooted and I had to reinstall that one too since I hadn't fixed so single user mode worked through serial.

So Internet have been down here for a week (I was lazy =).

Today PHP turned one tenth of a century old!

Here is the announcement for PHP 1.0.
I still remember some of my first experience with PHP, 2.0-something. Just a few flashes mostly. Coded some stuff in ASP and JSP for a few years before I came back to PHP around version 3.0 or something like that, I'm not exactly sure. Used some more ASP, got burned by it and moved along to a more mature PHP 4.something.something.

In unrelated news, I created a new goto thread - another monster. It's waaaay too long and it's mostly comments like "goto is baaaad!! Spaghetti code!! Me no like!" and responses to that. A very few replies which actually brings up technical problems or standpoints. I would say 80% of everything in the thread is just personal opinions.
But what I don't understand is why we who want to use it and can use it wisely should be refused to have that option.

Today I have some sad news.. In the fireworks comming out from one of the PSUs in my alpha I have now declared it dead. I tried my best, cleaning you, swapping PSU slots for the working one, but it was too late.. Three times is the number of times I have revived you from the dead, moving CPUs and memory around, cleaning you.. Why, ohh, why did you leave me now ?

I want to thank you for the good times we had together, installing different version of Tru64 on you.. Reinstalling Tru64.. Learning Tru64, mounting your SCSI disks..
