I've a Logitech MX518 and the cursor was moving too fast..
It took some googling before I found out (again) how to make the mouse move slower..

The solution to the problem is called lomoco.

$ apt-get install lomoco
$ lomoco -8

This will make the mouse have 800 DPI resolution and makes it a bit slower compared to
the default 1200 DPI.

I also set USB mouse polling a bit more frequent:

/etc/modules

usbhid mousepoll=5

    I have updated the infoplug hack some and made patches for amarok 1.3.7 and 1.4.0-svn (current trunk).
I fixed a bug which made it show current time in minutes:seconds instead of hours:minutes:seconds when the time was 60 minutes or more..
Also, Last Played have now been added.

Only 1.4.0-svn version have been tested. Second chunk for app.h is different for 1.3.7 and it applies with some fuzz, hopefully it will compile too! =)
After I upgraded to baselayout 1.12-pre-something on my firewall and workstation, I had to reinstall my machines (using Gentoo). I guess I could have chroot'ed and manually reinstalled a good version of baselayout, but I choose to reinstall my workstation.

The plan was to fix my firewall right after that (I still hadn't rebooted it yet so it was running). Unfortunatley the firewall was rebooted and I had to reinstall that one too since I hadn't fixed so single user mode worked through serial.

So Internet have been down here for a week (I was lazy =).
This is part 2 of my reorganization..
When I was doing all that moving around and stuff, it got out of hands with vhosts for three domains (for now!). So I figured I should take a look at mod_vhost_alias.

After some reading and whining on IRC, I came up with this config which works with my "old" setup (that is, the one I just made a few hours ago):
apache httpd.conf:

<Directory "/usr/local/www/domains/*/*/htdocs/">
AllowOverride All
</Directory>

<Directory "/usr/local/www/domains/*/*/cgi-bin">
AllowOverride None
Options None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

And the vhost stuff:

NameVirtualHost *:80
NameVirtualHost *:443

<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin foo-removed@*-removed-*.stoldgods.nu
VirtualDocumentRoot /usr/local/www/domains/%-2.0.%-1/%-3+/htdocs
VirtualScriptAlias /usr/local/www/domains/%-2.0.%-1/%-3+/cgi-bin
</VirtualHost>

Here are a few examples what the result looks like:

foo.domain.tld :  /usr/local/www/domains/domain.tld/foo/htdocs
foo.bar.domain.tld :  /usr/local/www/domains/domain.tld/foo.bar/htdocs
foo.bar.baz.anotherdomain.tld :  /usr/local/www/domains/anotherdomain.tld/foo.bar.baz/htdocs
anotherdomain.tld :  /usr/local/www/domains/anotherdomain.tld/_/htdocs

Although I have started this little app "by misstake" before, I have really never looked at what it really is.

KSysGuard is a really simple app that lets you monitor one or more computers through a small application called ksysguardd. It can monitor network traffic (bad packets, compressed packets, etc), get information from hardware sensors through lm_sensors and more.

Here's a screenshot of it in action monitoring my firewall and my server.

You can add new sheets to have one for each server, have a process controll table where you can see all running processes and send signals to them.

To use it you can either run ksysguardd as a daemon or start it through ssh (default), rsh or a custom command.

    Today I tried to change my Debian machine to use udev and found out Debian's udev init script or something like that is totally fucked up.
I wrote a small plugin for amaroK today. It works almost like xmms-infopipe, but this one sends data over UDP instead. If you don't know what xmms-infopipe is here is a dump of the data available through my plugin:

Interface: InfoPlug
Version: 0.4
Status: Playing
Artist: charles lester
Title: soul trip
Album: Cannabissimo Electro
Total Time: 5:26
Current Time: 1:10
Genre: Electronic
Year: 2002
Comment: BLA BLA BLA
Bitrate: 192 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100
Score: 0
Play Count: 0
Volume: 82
URL: file:///...../08-charles_lester-soul_trip-bla.mp3

It took me around 12 hours to write it - including the time to relearn some C++, learn some Qt and the amaroK API.

Currently only one bug is known. amaroK will crash at shutdown, I don't know how to fix it
and I'm a bit, uhm, what's a good word for it.. tired.. coding C++ right now. Also, there's no GUI for the configuration stuff and I don't know if I'll ever add it, I probably will. But atleast it works for me [tm]. If you need to change the port or something it's a oneliner..

Here are the files:
infoplug.cpp
infoplug.h
needed.patch

The patch is for current CVS so you might get some fuzz or something for other versions..

Ohh, and remember that my C++ sucks and this was a "quick hack".

    Luma 1.5 have been released today!

Luma is a tool to manage users, groups, etc stored in LDAP. It's written in python and it's using PyQt. There is some support for SASL and Kerberos in it too.

The swedish translation have also been updated, although it's still incomplete. If you're swedish, please download it and try the swedish translation and send suggestions, comments, etc to me about it.
Get it here.

    So I tried to boot 2.6.9-mm1-RT-V0.6.2 (link) on my laptop and it hardlocked on boot. And new laptops don't have any serial port, which sucks. Getting boot messages and kernel info is so easy with a serial port available. But since there is none on this one I had to look for another solution, netconsole.

Now, this is how you use netconsole:
Start netcat on the machine you want to log on with:

$ nc -u -l -p 4567

Netcat in my case is nc6 and the port I want to listen on is 4567.

Then on the machine you want to send messages from, use:

netconsole=<src-port>@<src-ip>/<source eth>,<dst-port>@<dst-ip>/<first-router-mac-address>

In my case, I used:

netconsole=1234@10.0.3.6/eth0,4567@10.0.2.1/00:50:BA:C2:11:34

I have netconsole builtin to my kernel on my laptop so I can use it from boot.
If you have no router between the host you're sending your logs to and the one sending them, specify the mac address of the reciving system.
