Server upgrade again

Ok, so I haven't written anything here for a "few" months. But I'm currently upgrading my server again.
But this time I'm doing a bigger physical upgrade too.

New server:
Opteron Dual-Core 2.2GHz
4GB RAM
160GB sys disk
3TB RAID-5 data space

It's running Debian Lenny and currently I've moved the webserver and database to the new server.

First run of new UTamarok!

I'm happy to report that my forked amarok now loads and runs.
It have its own config files, save dirs and modules etc so you can still have amarok on the system and it should load up just fine.

Patch didn't get that big:

It's based upon current SVN for now. I need to do some minor fixing, like making the damn icon work for it (the one that should show up in kicker!). I'll post updates soon

Removing daap and ruby crap from amarok

So the tards developing amarok want to stuff ruby and other crap down my throat. I went to the official channel on Freenode and told them the configure script is mising an option to turn off some "daap" crap I don't need or have any use for and that the configure script was broken, failing if ruby isn't available (as it's only really used during compile of "daap" anyway).

I bring you some sad news

Today I have some sad news.. In the fireworks comming out from one of the PSUs in my alpha I have now declared it dead. I tried my best, cleaning you, swapping PSU slots for the working one, but it was too late.. Three times is the number of times I have revived you from the dead, moving CPUs and memory around, cleaning you.. Why, ohh, why did you leave me now ?

I want to thank you for the good times we had together, installing different version of Tru64 on you.. Reinstalling Tru64.. Learning Tru64, mounting your SCSI disks..

So you see, it's with great pain I had to declare you dead, 03:20 (24h clock).

Reorganizing my webserver

I'm currently reorganizing my webserver since I got a few more domains now and a bunch of vhosts to run, so my old setup didn't fit the job anymore..
Some things doesn't work, like my blog (this one that is), it's fugly and stuff.
Hopefully I'll find out what's wrong a bit..

I was searching for some funny domain to register and came up with fruktisarna.com (inside joke), and an idea for a funny website. "fruktisarna" is a made up swedish word for "The fruity people" or something like that.. Anyway, networksolutions made an even better domain recommendation, fjortisarna.com.

Here's a definition of "fjortis" shamelessly stolen from google define:



Fjortis (pronounced "fyore-tiss" with the y being a consonant) - plural "fjortisar" - comes from "fjorton", which is Swedish for "fourteen". The most basic meaning of the word is "a person of either sex who behaves like he/she is fourteen years old"; however, fjortisar can be of any age between 12 and 18. Generally a "fjortis" is an annoying, immature, irresponsible, stupid teenage girl, but there are male ones too. On the Internet they're always InTurNeT GuRLz

All I can say about the site for now is that it will not have anyone acting like a "fjortis" on it (and no, it will not be some kind of community site, I think)

Cheap dollar means cheap domains

I had to click on one of my own Google Ads today.. Saw a cheap domain ad and found a free annoying domainname, wwwdotwwwdotcom.com..
4.95$, that's like 36.61SEK, almost free! That's one third of a pizza..

Hopefully I can make it use my own DNS server and such so I can use my own server and stuff.. Anyway, if I can't I'll just have to put something useless on it and - well, I don't know..

Should be online in 72 hours or so!

Summer seems to be on its way

A few days ago we got around 20 cm snow, today it's +13°C outside and rain. We had a few days with sun too, so it seems like we might get summer here soon!

Almost no snow left now. I have some pictures that I'm going to upload a bit later when I have finished compiling some stuff.

I have upgraded my blog to Serendipity v0.8 now. I also had to change theme since the one I was using isn't compatible with the new version of s9y.

My mail went down for a couple of days, 5 or so, until the MX record got updated etc.

Huygens probe lands on Titan and other stuff

The Huygens probe have landed on Titan now and have returned a couple of pictures to earth.
